ARBOR DAY: Chairman, Donald Phares
This committee is dedicated to making the community greener and instilling a sense of pride in school-age children by planting trees throughout the city.
ASSOCIATES: Chairman, Scott Rogers
The committee oversees the development of programs, resources, and services for associate members. The committee plans and organizes several special meetings and social events and works closely with other committees. The Associate Vice President chairs the committee.
AMBASSORS CLUB:
A subcommittee of Membership that serves to welcome and facilitate networking between members and guests at all Association functions. Also visits new members and make courtesy calls to existing members.
FINANCE: Chairman, TBA
This committee has the responsibility for long range financial planning for the Association.
GOLF TOURNAMENTS: Chairman, Donald Phares
This committee is responsible for the golf tournaments, including organization, operation, door prize and sponsor solicitation.
GREEN BUILDING: Chairman, Charles Hendricks
Using the SVBA as a vehicle to promote green building in the Shenandoah Valley through a program of education for the building industry and consumers alike.
2010 HOME & GARDEN SHOW: Chairman, Zack Snell
This committee plans and organizes all aspects of the annual Home & Garden Show held at the JMU Convocation Center.
LEGISLATIVE: Chairman, Meredith Ward
This committee stays abreast of local issues that affect the building industry. They research proposed ordinances and work with local government to try to bring about change that is satisfactory to members and the local government. Usually chaired by the volunteer who represents SVBA at state legislature meetings held in Richmond.
PUBLIC RELATIONS/MARKETING: Chairman, Robin Long
Promote the Association's image as well as provide value for its members. Develop and solicit promotional options for SVBA members.
MEMBERSHIP: Chairman, John McKinney
Coordinates increasing membership through membership drives and works on retention of current members.
PARADE OF HOMES: Chairman, Kate Renalds
This committee plans and organizes a showcase of homes scheduled in the fall.
PROGRAMS/SPECIAL EVENTS: Chairman, Leisa Evick
Coordinate programs for the monthly membership meetings and arranges speakers. Plans Special Events such as the Holiday Dinner and other functions.
SCHOLARSHIPS: Chairman, Ken Patterson
This committee is designed to encourage young people to further their education in housing related programs. The funds are awarded to deserving students pursuing study in housing industry programs.
